Class Types

We offer yoga classes in Jivamukti Yoga, Mysore-style Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin & meditation. Our studio has cork floors and overlooks the river. The room is gently heated to 75 degrees.

Jivamukti Vinyasa Yoga is a creative style of vinyasa yoga. The Jivamukti method is a physically and intellectually stimulating practice emphasizing spiritual awareness.  Each class focuses on a theme, which is supported by asana sequencing, yogic breathing, chanting, meditation, and explorations of yogic philosophy.

This class is open to practitioners of all levels. You work at your own pace, following the teacher's verbal as well as hands-on guidance. Asana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students. A typical open class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga: shastra (scripture), bhakti (devotion), ahimsa (kindness), nada (music) & dhyana (meditation). This class is moderate - vigorous.

Flow and Restore begins with slow and gentle movement, designed to stretch and revitalize the body. This is followed by deep relaxation in a handful of restorative postures that are fully supported with blocks, blankets, or bolsters. This class will nourish, open and deeply relax your body and mind and is great for beginner students. This class is gentle.

Viniyoga is a style of Hatha yoga that promotes the personalization of yoga practices to suit each individual yogi with creative and thoughtful sequencing for body, mind, and spirit. It is an authentic and holistic approach to yoga that integrates asana, pranayama, chanting, and meditation. This class is gentle - moderate.

Meditation class begins with detailed meditation instruction. The actual sitting time for the meditation practice is usually 20 minutes. Afterwards there is a Q&A session with the teacher, followed by closing chants. No prior experience in meditation is required.

Vinyasa Flow is a mixed-level class where we move through a series of postures with breath and intention. This class is good for all-level experienced students. Emphasis is on opening the body through flowing movement. This class usually has music and hands-on assists. This class is moderate - vigorous.

Lunch Yoga is designed to provide a calm midday oasis during a busy day. The 45-minute long class is a gentle vinyasa flow that allows you to return to your day feeling spacious but not too sweaty. These classes are great for beginner students. This class is gentle - moderate.

Yin Yoga applies moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body - tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Postures are held passively for several minutes while relaxing the muscles, basking in stillness, and playing your edge. Yin increases joint mobility and rehydrates the connective tissues while also soothing the nervous system. This class gives options to make the postures as gentle or challenging as the practitioner would like.

Ashtanga yoga is a vigorous, vinyasa practice where students move progressively through set series of postures. Mysore practice, a traditional way of practicing Ashtanga, is named after the City in South India where the Ashtanga guru, Sri K Pattabhi Jois lived. In Mysore practice, each student practices individually at their own pace

Students receive guidance and one-on-one assists from the teacher in a quiet, focused, individualized setting that allows an intimate relationship to develop between student and practice. Students begin with the first poses of Primary Series and are introduced to new postures by the teacher as they gain proficiency. To attend Mysore or Led Primary practice, students should first try the lead Ashtanga class on Saturday mornings and become a member of the Ashtanga Plus Program. This class is vigorous.
